These shoes have a great, casual summer look, and they are available in many attractive colors and a wide variety of sizes, so I bought a pair as soon as I found them. They seem to have the same base as the Bella Vita ESP shoe; trying them on and comparing the two confirmed that. This is unfortunate, because something in the design of the platform makes it (feel) unstable. As I noted about the ESP espadrille style, wearing these shoes I feel that the shoe will slip and then my ankle will twist- that leaves me not at all confident when wearing them in the LEAST challenging situations. I can’t imagine how I would feel if using them on uneven settings (ie, gravel road, etc) but I don’t think I will ever test them. The shoe has a (relatively) heavy platform and the heel is substantial at the foot, but the area of the heel that actually touches the ground is fairly small, also it seems to be set forward. Now, I have ankle problems, if you don’t you might be fine. There ARE several improvements to this shoe over the ESP espadrille. The fabric is attractive, somewhat sturdier/heavier; the footbed of the shoe is softer, fabric-covered and not twine (which was an interesting look on the ESP but not all that comfortable); and the design of the shoe with two strong elastic bands holding the shoe in place is such that is stays on better.
